Coaching
mindset coaching
for dog handlers
It's rarely a lack of knowledge that's holding us back. Often, we already know what we want to do - but our thoughts, expectations and habits makes it difficult to act in a way that aligns with our intentions. That's why coaching isn't about teaching you more about dog training - i's about helping you to become a stronger dog handler by developing a deeper awareness of the mental patterns that shape your decisions, your communication and the way you respond to both success and setbacks. Whether your goal is to create more balance in everyday life or perform at a higher level in competition, coaching is about building the mental foundation that supports the direction you want to take.
challenges
You may benefit from coaching if you...
- Struggle with nerves or performance pressure, especially in competition.
- Doubt your own decisions because you're afraid of making the wrong choice.
- Feel that your own expectations get in the way of enjoying the process.
- Already perform at a high level, but want to optimize the mental part of performance.
- Experience frustration, guilt, uncertainty or a sense of helplessness because of the challenges you're facing with your dog.
- Feel like you've lost the joy in training, or have started questioning why you're doing it in the first place.
- Know you're capable of more, but struggle to unlock your full potential.
- Focus more on your mistakes than on everything you've done well.
- Compare yourself to others instead of focusing on your own growth.
How Coaching Works
Many people think coaching is about motivation and pep talks. To me, it's about becoming curious about the thoughts, beliefs and patterns that influence the way we think, feel and act. From there, we can develop the strategies and mental tools that supports a meaningful change.
We can't change what we don't understand. That's why every coaching process begins with awareness, and together we'll explore your thoughts, reactions and patterns to create the clarity needed. Self-awareness isn't the destination - it's the foundation.
As your coach, I help you explore the thoughts, patterns and beliefs that influence you as a dog handler. Through thoughtful questions, reflection and practical mental tools, we'll work together to gain greater clarity, so you can make more intentional decisions and grow in the direction you want to go.
Dog training
Coaching is focusing on you as the dog handler and the mental part of your partnership with your dog. However, some challenges require practical training or professional behavioural support as well.
If your dog struggles with pulling on the lead, reactivity, recall, obedience training, confidence, or other behavioural challenges, it's important that they receive the right training and support.
That's why Louise and I created Canine Beyond Limits - a collaboration that brings together canine behaviour, learning and wellbeing with coaching and mental performance for dog handlers. Together, we help both the dog and the human.
